S.A.N.E.

(S)ociety for the (A)dvancement of (N)on-coercive (E)ducation

Begun in 1992, SANE evolved from being a parent support group for Windsor House Alternative School to being an umbrella group dedicated to advancing non-coercive education in a wider venue.

I. The purpose is to support democratic, non-coercive learning environments.

II. The philosophy is based on our belief that children's natural curiosity and vitality should guide their learning experiences, which may take many different forms. We believe that democratic, non-coercive learning environments afford the optimal opportunity for children to learn and to thrive both as individuals and as members of their communities. We are committed to the idea that respect is the cornerstone of this philosophy.

SANE is a charitable non-profit organization formed under the British Columbia Society's Act and registered with Canada Revenue Agency. For more complete details, including Articles and Executive, please visit: sane.at.org
